RealTime Advanced can be installed on a Windows 7 system regardless of whether it is a 32-bit or 64-bit version. It can be installed to run entirely on a single computer, or set up to be run from multiple machines sharing a database on a network folder.



Please follow the steps below.



  1. Manually create the program folder - Usually "C:\RT3"

    1. Right-Click the newly created folder and choose "Properties"
    2. Using the Security tab, give the "Everyone" group "Full Control" to the folder.
    3. Note: You may need to use "Edit" option to add Everyone to the available groups
  3. Network Installation:
    • If it isn't already created, manually create a shared data root folder. 
    • Make sure that the folder has full share and security permissions for everyone who will be using the program. 
    • Take note of the shared folder's full network path. 
    • Avoid using mapped drives.
  4. Locate the Installer File.
    1. On your CD this is in the "RealTime" folder. 
    2. You are welcome to download the most current version from the website here:

  6. It is preferred to right click the installer and choose the "Run As Administrator" option. This ensures that you will have sufficient rights to install the files, even if they are in "Protected" areas of the computer
  7. Follow the prompts to complete the installation.
  8. Note: In some rare cases, the installation process will appear to be "stuck" - this happens when other applications or services are using files that need to be updated. Trying exiting all other applications. If you've exited all other applications and the progress doesn't resume on its own, you can cancel and restart the installation.

    If it still hangs, then you probably don't have access to the program or service that is running. In this case you will need to restart in "Safe Mode" and then perform the installation.
  9. Now that the software is installed, you need to open the Registry and give "Full Control" permissions to the Sundial Time Systems registry key to everyone that will be using RealTime Advanced

    1. 32 bit - HKLM\Software\Sundial Time Systems 
    2. 64 bit - HKLM\Software\Wow64Node\Sundial Time Systems
  11. The first time you run RealTime, right-click the shortcut and use "Run As Administrator" - this allows RealTime Advanced to finish "Initializing" its registry settings.
