We would need to set up a schedule, then enable shift rounding to trim excess minutes.

  1. Go to SCHEDULES.
  2. Edit an existing schedule by double-clicking it, or create a new schedule by clicking Add.
  3. On the right, under Schedule Days, fill in In and Out times for the employees who will be assigned to this schedule. You can create as many schedules as you need to accommodate your employees.
  4. If there are days when your employees might or might not come in (weekends, for example), put a checkmark in "opt" (optional).
  5. If you have Auto Lunch set up, and you want to override the settings for particular days (weekends might be short days, for example), type in the value you would like to use for that day in the column under "AL Override".
  6. Under Rounding > Shift, we're going to type in values, as follow:

  • Shift Start > Trim: The number of minutes to be taken off if the employee clocks in early. E.g., 0:20 would allow the employee to clock in up to 20 minutes before their scheduled time.
  • Shift Start > Grace: The number of minutes to be added if the employee clocks in late. E.g., 0:10 would allow the employee to clock in up to 10 minutes late.
  • Shift Start > Fallback Trim: The number of minutes to be trimmed if the employee clocks in past the grace period. This value must be greater than the one for Grace. E.g., If Grace is set to 0:10, and Fallback Trim is set to 0:20, it will deduct 20 minutes from the employee's time if they clock in more than 10 minutes past their scheduled time.
  • Shift End works the same way, except that the times are on the other side of the scheduled Out time. E.g., Trim will deduct time from any late Out punches, etc.

Once you have your schedule(s) set up, be sure to assign it/them to the appropriate employees by going to Employees > Employment > manage scheduling, and clicking on the "A" in the day from which the schedule's rules should apply.

I hope these instructions are clear and easy to implement. Please reply to this email or give us a call if you require any assistance, or have further questions. Have a great day!
