Cleaning and Disinfecting Guide

NOTE:  These instructions apply ONLY to the new generation Fingerprint Sensors (hard surface).  Original generation Fingerprint Sensors (rubbery feel) use only adhesive tape and damp lint-free cloth.

Instructions for Disinfecting Optical Fingerprint sensor

  • Use Ethanol or Isopropanol in concentrations of less than 50%.
  • Use Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2), in 3% solution in water.
  • Disconnect the unit from the power source.
  • Apply the liquid to a soft lint-free material (same as used to clean camera lenses) and gently dab the optical sensor.
  • Make sure there is no residual solution left over the sensor, if there’s a sticky residue or underlying oiliness, you may use scotch tape to get rid of it by placing it on the sensor and peeling it off.

Instructions for Using Cleaning Solution

  • Disconnect the unit from the power source.
  • Apply the liquid to a soft lint-free material (same as used to clean camera lenses) and gently dab the optical sensor.
  • DO NOT pour any liquid directly on the optical sensor.
  • DO NOT submerge the scanner in liquid.
  • DO NOT rub the optical sensor with an abrasive material, including paper.

Instructions for cleaning timeclock

  • Standard Swipe and go time clocks should be cleaned with a soft lint-free material, extra grime around corners can be worked off with a cotton swab. Using soft lint-free material start at the back reader and work forward.
  • DO NOT pour any liquid directly on the terminal.
  • DO NOT submerge the terminal in liquid.
  • DO NOT rub the terminal with an abrasive material, including paper.
