When editing your preferences, one option is the Duration Format with choices of 

Hours and Minutes

or

Hours and Decimals


For many users, durations calculated in Sundial are used for further calculations in another product.  When this happens, users commonly find that Hours and Decimals are easier to work with.  This is because there are 60 minutes in an hour, which requires calculation to achieve decimal hours.  That calculation is [Minutes] / [60]


When calculating time, the duration is calculated using Hours and Minutes, and if the duration should be presented in Decimals, we perform the above calculation on the resulting Minutes.
