Series 800 clocks running firmware version 8.0.4.2-5.3.2 can be updated to firmware version 8.0.4.5-6.1.23
One reason to do this change is to be able to utilize a Multi-Clock Duplicate Punch Prevention
This update cannot be done exclusively through the menu using a Flash Drive. It must be done using a Telnet session, and TFTP for transferring files to the clock, and finally using a flash drive to restore the factory configuration values and re-enable components.
**WARNING**
This update will wipe out everything stored in the clock including Punch History, Employee lists, Biometric Credentials, Work Codes, Job Codes, etc. In addition, it will restore all settings to their original default, including Duplicate Punch Prevention, Punch Type names and options.
Telnet Instructions:
Create a folder to hold your files and copy these file into it:
Start tftpd32.exe
Click Settings and uncheck the following items:
- SNTP server
- Syslog server
- DHCP server
- DNS server
Click OK, then close tftpd32.exe and restart it.
- Telnet into your Series 800 clock
- Change into the mtdblock directory
cd /mnt/mtdblock - Delete everything from inside the mtdblock directory
rm -rf * - Transfer the mtdblock.tgz package to the clock
tftp -r mtdblock.tgz -g 192.168.X.X
(where 192.168.X.X is the IP address of your PC) - Extract the mtdblock.tgz package
tar -xvzf mtdblock.tgz - Delete the mtdblock.tgz package
rm mtdblock.tgz - Reboot the clock
reboot
After you are done with the above steps, follow the next steps below to re-enable the clock’s standard features such
as fingerprint, badge, and Wi-Fi support.
- Copy the options2.cfg file to the root of a USB Flash Drive
- Insert the flash drive into the USB port of the timeclock.
(You should see the USB icon appear at the top right corner of the screen.) - From the GUI screen, navigate to Menu -> System -> USB Upgrade -> Upgrade Options.
- The clock should detect the file and automatically begin the update process.
- Once the update is complete, Tap OK. The clock should reboot automatically.
- When the device powers back up and boots to the main idle screen, power cycle it once more by removing the power cable from the device. This second reboot is important for the configurations to finalize and take effect.
The clock now has the new firmware and settings are restored to their factory original values. Any post delivery settings you may have applied, like setting up Ethernet, WiFi, adding Job Codes, etc., will all need to be done again.
Once your clock connect to your Timekeeper account, you can upload your employees again and start applying any desired settings.
