When Daylight Saving Adjustments occur at the clock, it will impact the people that are clocked IN during that shift.

NOTE - Employees that were NOT ON THE CLOCK at the time that the clock changed (whether manually or automatically) DO NOT NEED ADJUSTMENT

In the Fall...

Since the clock is moved backward 1 hour, the employee will effectively work the same hour twice. At 2AM, the clock is adjusted to 1AM, and the employee that is clocked in needs to work an additional hour to reach 2AM again

To accommodate this, one OR the other of their punches should be adjusted.

If you adjust the START punch, then move it Earlier by 1 hour.

If you adjust the END punch, then move it Later by 1 hour

Alternately, you can add an hour of time as a manual entry. To do this, take the following steps:

Go to Setup >> Hours / Monetary Type

Select and hour type to use for this purpose, and call it Daylight Saving Time Adjustment, and enter the following settings:

If you use Export to payroll software, be sure to code the new hour type as appropriate.

Add the entry to any employee who worked during the Daylight Saving Time changeover.

In the Spring...

Since the clock is moved forward 1 hour, the employee will effectively get a free hour that they did not work. At 2AM, the clock is adjusted to 3AM, and the employee that is clocked in never worked the time from 2AM to 3AM.

To accommodate this, one OR the other of their punches should be adjusted.

If you adjust the START punch, then move it Later by 1 hour.

If you adjust the END punch, then move it Earlier by 1 hour.

Alternately, take the following steps outlined above for the Daylight Saving Time Adjustment hour type, but change the default duration to -1 hour. (If you already created the entry, simply change the default duration before making entries.)
